Hey there, I’m Carrie.
I am a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia Occupational Therapy program (c/o 1996) and Boston University’s Post Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate program (c/o 2021).
I started my career in adult neuro-rehabilitation but soon transitioned to pediatric practice. I have worked in a variety of pediatric settings in Georgia, New York, South Carolina, and Colorado.
I am a faculty member at the STAR Institute in Centennial, CO. My unique contribution is creating and hosting a podcast called “Making Sense” which is produced by The STAR Institute. You can listen here: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/making-sense/id1559608909
My professional passions include:
- Sensory Processing and Integration (sensory health)
- Evidence-based practice (knowledge to practice translation)
- Caregiver and Family Education
- Occupational Therapy Practitioner Education on topics related to sensory health
- Collaboration with others who are passionate about sensory health
I am a wife and mother of 4 children (and a Golden Retriever). Most days you can find me planning the family’s next meal or driving to sports and activities. People often refer to me as organized and creative, but what I value most is paying attention to what matters to other people. By doing this, I have worked to develop a unique offering – lived experience and practical tips for real-life application.
I read every day and am always looking forward to my next trip to visit family in GA.
Welcome! I am so glad you are here.
